§We have been informed by the NIH that if this is the only acknowledgement of NIH in your paper, you are not required to submit the paper to Pubmed.  Some publishers (e.g., ACS journals) automatically remind authors to submit papers to Pubmed if there is a reference to the NIH in the acknowledgement.  You may reply to the publisher that Pubmed submission is not required because no NIH grant was involved.
