It is very important that you allow enough time for the check-in process prior to your scheduled beam time (2 hours for new users). No extra time can be added to your scheduled beam time to make up for time loss due to the check-in-process, so please arrive early.
● If you are bringing Hazardous Materials DO NOT bring them into the facility until you have met with the CHESS Operator and Safety Officer assigned to your proposal.
● If you have not notified us of all Hazardous Materials and you arrive with a substance we consider hazardous it WILL NOT be allowed in the building.
● When you arrive at Wilson Laboratory follow the signs from the parking lot to the CHESS Reception area located on the 2nd floor (200L) of Wilson Laboratory.
● From here our CHESS Operator will check you in.
●
If you have a Hazardous Material, inform the CHESS
Operator, so that
they may contact the Safety Officer
assigned, and begin the check-in procedure.
●
Your group will be provided with a parking permit
which must be returned prior to your leaving.
Should your group not
return the parking permit the
User will be charged $100 for the permit.
It is
unfortunate, but many times a parking permit is left
in a rental
car and thrown away.
●
Each member of the group will be processed
and provided with a radiation
badge.
●
Those group members who did not complete the
On-line Safety tour/quiz
will be asked to at this time.
TIP - Do it before you come to
CHESS.
●
The group will be given a tour of the facility as well
as Safety and
Equipment training.
●
For macromolecular users a MacCHESS Operator has
been assigned to assist
you with the set-up, there will
also be a staff scientist available or
