High Angular Resolution Microbeam Diffraction Analysis of Optoelectronic SAG Structures

A2 microbeam high angular resolution setup.  Microbeam of typically 10 is produced by focusing CHESS capillary; high angular resolution is provided by the minature Si or Ge channel-cit crystals (inset) and/or analyzer crystals.


 


Sample: multiple quantum well (MQW) waveguide grown in narrow regions between oxide masks.

Goal: high angular resolution analysis of strain (composition) and thickness of active layers of optoelectronic structures grown by MOCVD in the regime of selective area growth (SAG);

Optics: one-bounce capillary producing round beam of 10m, miniature Si and Ge channel-cut crystals; Si(111) and multilayer upstream monochromator.
