CHESS West
A1 Station

MacCHESS Scientists with A1map

A1 Facility Description

The A1 Station receives doubly-focused monochromatic x-ray beam from a new 49-pole west wiggler. Recently CHESS installed a white-beam collimating mirror in front of the monochromator to assist in reducing the heat-load on the monochromator crystal and to aid in focusing.  The small size of the beam at the focal position makes this station ideally suited for crystallography, small-angle scattering and fiber diffraction from extremely small specimens. The capabilities of this station are similar to those of the highly successful CHESS F1 station.
