CHESS Wigglers
Procedures for Enabling

Occasionally the position (gap opening) information of a wiggler is lost (this is due to the control electronics losing power or having been disabled). When this occurs, we have to reset the electronics so that if required the wigglers can be opened for machine studies etc.
We should do this at the next convenient time for an access in order to:
-
Ensure no foreign matter (e.g.. nuts, bolts, etc.) have been placed on any of the I beams of the wiggler.
-
Ensure that nothing (e.g.. bolts etc.) is in the path of any of these I beams, and that nothing besides the vacuum chamber is between the wiggler jaws.
-
Ensure that the wiggler safety switch at the wiggler is in the ON position.

Procedures for Disabling the CHESS Wigglers

Procedures for Changing the CHESS Wiggler Gap
If the wiggler needs to be opened to a position other than those described above get assistance from
Dana Richter.
This procedure requires connecting a laptop computer (one with the software on it) and programming the position. There is also a "manual" way of jogging the wiggler
into position with special controls.
