Orientation and Safety Training

CHESS serves a wide spectrum of experimental groups from Universities, National Laboratories and Industry. Each year, 500-600 scientists and training scientists visit CHESS to collect data.

CHESS takes a proactive view on safety - it is essential for personnel and visiting users to be familiar with the policies and procedures that ensure the continuing and future safe operation of the facility.

This orientation and safety training course has been designed to ensure that as a CHESS user or guest, you are fully acquainted with these policies and procedures, and that your visit is both safe and productive. Resources for additional safety information are provided at the end of this training. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact our Facility User Officer or ask the on-duty CHESS Operator when you arrive for check-in.

Please read through and familiarize yourself with the following pages. Use the red arrows to proceed through the pages in order.  A short quiz will follow or go
directly to the quiz.
