For remote data collection and possibly for other uses, you may need to use remote desktop software to connect to a CHESS workstation. Software supported by CHESS includes NoMachine and X2Go, both of which use the NX remote desktop protocol.
Before using remote desktop software, it will be necessary to connect to the CHESS local network using VPN software.
Choose a computer from which you will open your remote session. You will want a fast and reliable network connection, a large display, ready acces to a phone and a comfortable chair.
Do not initiate a remote desktop session until you get the OK from CHESS. It would be disruptive to other users if you interrupt their beamtime.
