CHESS is accepting beamtime proposals and beamtime requests (BTR) for beamlines that are part of the Center for High Energy X-ray Sciences (CHEXS) at CHESS and MacCHESS for the January to March 2022 cycle.
- PIPOXS beamline (ID2A) - CHEXS
- FAST beamline (ID3A) – CHEXS
- QM2 beamline (ID4B) - CHEXS
- HPBioSAXS and BioSAXS beamline (ID7A1) CHEXS and MacCHESS
- HPBio-MX and FlexX beamline (ID7B2) CHEXS and MacCHESS
The COVID-19 pandemic is expected to continue to impact the ability of users to travel to CHESS for experiments. Therefore, we have developed remote and mail-in capabilities at all CHESS beamlines. Important information about these capabilities can be found on the CHESS beamline websites that can be accessed from the Beamline Directory. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our Users Office and/or CHESS scientists if you have questions or require additional information.
Submitting a general proposal is the most common way for users to access a beamline. As in the past, the process accommodates users who want to carry out a single experiment at CHESS or who want to establish an ongoing research program. Proposals may be submitted at any time, however, to be scheduled in the January to March 2022 cycle, a proposal must be submitted by the Proposal Deadline, Friday, October 29th, 2021.
Users can also submit a beamtime request (BTR) for an existing proposal. In order to submit a BTR, users must have an active beamtime proposal, i.e. a proposal submitted to CHESS within the past two years. To be scheduled in January to March 2022 cycle, a BTR must be received by the BTR Deadline, Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 4pm.
