Station amenities for crystallography

A number of features are available to macromolecular crystallography users to enhance the data collection experience, ranging from conveniences for all users to extras targeting specific “non-standard” experiments.

Features include:

  • Capillary focusing to produce mini-beam

  • Computer-controlled crystal annealing, using an air knife to block cryostream

  • Enhanced crystal visualization using special illumination and intrinsic protein fluorescence

  • Sleeve to maintain anaerobic environment around sample

  • Raster-scanning of sample to locate regions which diffract

  • Vector-scanning of sample during data collection

  • Control of sample temperature – a simple interface to the Oxford cryostream controller as well as the ability to make a step change to temperature during data collection
