Frequently asked questions.

What counts as hazardous material that I need to declare for shipping?

Items which have been deemed hazardous by the CHESS Safety Committee require special handling - please contact the CHESS User Office for further instructions.

CHESS will refuse any hazardous shipments which have not been previously approved by the CHESS Safety Committee.

Sometimes, users order hazardous materials from a vendor and have it shipped directly to CHESS (such as chemicals or compressed gases). You must obtain approval from the CHESS Safety Committee prior to ordering materials, and you must notify the Safety Officer and/or the CHESS User Office of what items you are having shipped directly to CHESS.

I'm a Cornell user, am I able to drop off my samples?

Yes, please coordinate with the CHESS Users Office by emailing CHESSUserOffice@cornell.edu

What if I need to add collaborators to my experiment?

Contact the CHESS User office if you need assistance adding a collaborator to your project.

Where are the instructions for the remote access software (NoMachine)?

You can find IT instructions and information here.

I'm having trouble with my connection/NoMachine/webcams.

How do I contact CHESS during my experiment?

For general inquiries or non-urgent matters you can contact the CHESS User Office. For urgent matters relating to an experiment you are currently running, please use REACH CHESS.
