The oscilloscope is a versatile and heavily used measuring instrument in science, engineering, and industry. It earns this status because it neatly provides an instant graph of how the voltage of a signal varies as a function of time or as a function of a second signal. It also allows easy comparison of separate signals. This lab will provide an introduction to the basic operation of a ‘scope.’ An examination of AC and DC voltages, of various waveforms, and of other phenomena will provide a useful means to that end.
