MacCHESS partners with SMB at SSRL to provide beam time for crystallography during CHESS upgrade
October 2018 – March 2019
How it works:
- Apply for time using CHESS proposal system
- Preferably, attend a workshop on how to use SSRL facility
- Receive remote access time on SSRL Beamline 14-1 on one of the designated MacCHESS days
- Ship crystals yourself or with help by MacCHESS
- Collect, process, and retrieve data, with support by SSRL and/or MacCHESS staff
SMB facility at SLAC-SSRL : Beamline 14-1
Beamline 14-1 features:
- Bending magnet, energy 6-13 KeV, flux 1.7 x 1011
- Beam size 50x70 to 100x150 µm
- SAM robotic crystal mounting, remote access is the norm
- BluIce user interface, runs all aspects of experiment
- Connect remotely using NX
- Other beamlines, for special cases
- 12-1: undulator source, microfocus
- 9-2: on-line UV-Vis microspectrometer
