Synchrotron "X-ray Micromechanics" course now online
As part of the mission of InSitμ@CHESS, the ONR-funded center focused on developing new High Energy X-ray Diffraction (HEXD) users and methods, the staff has developed and made available an online course for novice X-ray users with backgrounds in engineering.
Associate Director Matthew Miller promoted to ASME Fellow
CHESS congratulates Professor Matthew Miller, the associate director of CHESS and the director of InSitµ@CHESS, for a recent promotion to the rank of fellow in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
The new ONR-sponsored InSitμ (Integrated Simulation and x-ray Interrogation Tools and training for micromechanics) center at CHESS was officially launched this fall.
New high energy beamline as state-of-the-art grain mapping facility
High-energy (HE) x-ray diffraction (energies 30 keV and above) have long been a mainstay at CHESS, supporting many user groups on a wide variety of in-house developed techniques.
