Synchrotron radiation sources have enabled revolutionary applications, that are advancing understanding of the electronic and structural nature of atomic scale systems containing transition-metal atoms.
CHESS is pioneering the development of new x-ray optics and spectrometers for this purpose and a small, extremely productive community of users has grown with this capability. It is now time for a workshop focused on communicating what we have learned, building interest, and instructing a new generation of scientists on these methods.
The workshop will be held, in conjunction with the CHESS User Meeting, June 11-12, 2015 at Cornell University. It will offer a series of science talks addressing problems in physics, chemistry, and biochemistry, followed by a “how to” session setting the stage for hands-on experience by workshop participants on the following day(s). Beginning Thursday, experts will assist those interested to collect, reduce, and analyze emission data, as well as on use of publically available software designed to model structures, plan future measurements, and simulate results.
